Manchester United are interested in signing a Juventus player this summer, but all signs point towards it being unachievable.
Manchester United are second in the Premier League this season and one step closer towards qualification into the Europa League semi-final. However, there is a massive gulf in quality between the Red Devils and their crosstown rivals, Manchester City, who are well on track to win the quadruple during the ongoing season.
United meanwhile have now gone three seasons without a piece of silverware and eight years without winning the Premier League. It is clear that the current squad, although remarkable, requires an injection of fresh and most importantly, ambitious faces. The upcoming summer transfer window is likely to be productive.
According to Calcio Mercato, the English giants want to sign one of Juventus’ finest young players in Dejan Kulusevski. The 20-year-old has developed into one of the club’s most regular fixtures in recent months and as a result, has attracted attention from Manchester United, who wanted him in the past transfer windows too.
Juventus although, are reluctant in parting company with the Swedish forward. The Old Lady considers the youngster a key part of its future projects and that, coupled with an ageing squad has compelled them into keeping a rare young product. Kulusevski however does have a significant competition for places in the team.
The likes of Alvaro Morata, Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala play in the same role as the Swede, as does Federico Chiesa, whose move to Turin will more likely be made permanent than not. Having said that, Kulusevski may also be convinced into joining United simply because they have been better performers this season than Juve.
However, the possibility of this transfer is unlikely to say the least. In the end, the Bianconeri will make a final decision which undoubtedly would be to keep Kulusevski, due to his quality and length of contract. Manchester United meanwhile will need to turn their attentions to an alternative right winger, because it is a position they need to rebuild.
Daniel James has been great in recent months, but the player’s lack of physical abilities have sent him down the pecking order, whereas Mason Greenwood is better utilized in the central areas of the final third. Manchester United remain interested in Jadon Sancho too, but there is a chance that his asking price may leave them fazed this time around too.
Which right winger do you think the Red Devils should sign this summer?
