Manchester United have been presented with an opportunity to sign one of their past targets, Sami Khedira as a free agent.
Manchester United have already signed Donny van de Beek this summer but the Dutchman wouldn’t be their last signing in all likelihood. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs a few more signings and the board will try to do just that in the upcoming weeks.
As per the Sun, former Real Madrid player, Sami Khedira could be on his way out of Juventus after being told by Andrea Pirlo that he doesn’t fit into his plans. The Old Lady are looking to save some funds by terminating Khedira’s contract.
Manchester United and Sami Khedira have had close links in the past with one deadline day attempt from the Red Devils to land him, resulting in nothing. However, by the looks of it, it does seem that they might get their man after all, on a free transfer.
The Red Devils will not think too much about it as they already have their midfield set-up. The likes of Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, Bruno Fernandes, and Fred will be playing the center half and there is no space for the 33-year-old in the midfield area when one looks at it closely. Yes, the German could be used as a rotational player, but it is highly unlikely that a player of his stature will not want to start games.
Manchester United have been focusing their attention on a deal that has dragged out for too long now. Yes, Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford still looks like a possibility but the Red Devils aren’t willing to match Dortmund’s 108 million pounds asking price and are willing to go as high as 80 million pounds.
The Red Devils have got one of the strongest midlines in Europe now but they have a gaping hole in the left-back and the right-winger positions. They should try to fill those positions before signing any surplus. The next few days are going to be critical for Manchester United as they look to be in the reckoning for the UEFA Champions League again next season.
