Manchester United are planning to sign an AC Milan superstar next summer as the player is not convinced by his new contract offer.
Manchester United were disappointed to have missed out on targets like Jadon Sancho and Ousmane Dembele in the summer transfer window. The Red Devils were hoping to sign the Englishman this summer but somehow failed to land the talented winger as the club had reportedly failed to pay the set price tag of the player.
The English outfit instead had to find other alternatives for the former Manchester city man as the club compensated by bringing in a blend of youth and experience in the form of Edinson Cavani, Facundo Pellestri and Amad Traore. The club was also successful in bringing in a decent cover for Luke Shaw as Alex Telles shifted base from Portugal, and Dutch attacking midfielder Donny van de Beek.
According to reports, the Red Devils are now exploring the option of signing Hakan Calhanoglu from AC Milan next summer. The Turkish international has been an important member for the Rossoneri as the midfielder has been a set-piece specialist and is known for the ability to score free kicks from short as well as long range.
United have been keener on landing the 26-year-old as currently, the player has not yet signed an extension with his club and possibly could leave next summer for free. The Italian outfit has offered a new contract to its star man, but sources reveal that the midfielder is not yet ready to open the new deal as he is not happy with the latest offer in store.
The English outfit is willing to take advantage of this dispute as the club is ready to offer an improved deal to the AC Milan playmaker. In the ongoing season, Calhanoglu has been terrific for Stefano Pioli‘s men as the player has already raked in four goals and four assists in eight appearances in all competitions. Given his age and quality, there is no reason why he wouldn’t do the same in the Premier League.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to take a big call next summer on whether his side should bring another midfielder to the present roster. United already have the services of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek in their current midfield setup. However, the prospect of landing the Turkish star might seem tempting for the club especially if the player opts to leave next summer making him available for free.
