Manchester United are cutting their transfer business severely close to the fast approaching deadline day.

With the transfer window closing on the 5th of October, the long-lasting saga involving Jadon Sancho and a possible move to Manchester United might be coming to a close. Unfortunately for the Red Devils, the end will be on a sour note because as it stands the Borussia Dortmund star would not be on the move to the English side.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who had promised to make more signings after Donny van de Beek would be looking to find possible replacement options for the talented 20-year-old. As a result, the boss has reportedly again shown interest in Watford forward Ismaila Sarr as a candidate for the required role. The 22-year-old caught many eyes in his first Premier League season with his exceptional displays of skill and pace, but all this was not enough to keep the Hornets in the first division.

The Senegal international has been a prime target for Liverpool ever since their defeat to Watford in which Sarr managed to score a brace. While the defending Premier League champions looked like they were in the acquisition for a while, they ultimately proceeded in favour of landing Diogo Jota and Thiago Alcantara, spending a reasonable amount on the Iberian duo.

United would be looking to swoop down on the former Rennes man in the upcoming days. Solskjaer’s side was interested in signing the 22-year-old a lot before but did not pursue due to their adamance to sign Sancho. The move for Sarr seems like a much more viable one due to the simple fact that he could cost less than half of which the English international would have cost them. With an asking price of 45 million euros and a marginally cheaper wage, a move to the Old Trafford might be very possible for the African prodigy.

However, Liverpool still seems to be in the race to sign the forward and would seem to provide competition to the Red Devils, either right now if funds permit or in January. Jurgen Klopp’s club does have an advantage over United as Sarr’s hero, Sadio Mane plays for the Reds and the youngster would love for an opportunity to play in the same team as him at the Anfield.

If this move fails too, Manchester United would still have a lot of options to explore in Douglas Costa, Ivan Perisic or Arkadiusz Milik, and it will remain to be seen what plans the 20-time English champions have for the rest of the transfer window.
