Manchester United are plotting a stunning double swoop by signing two Real Madrid superstars
Manchester United put on an admirable performance against Sheffield United at the Old Trafford. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men cruised past the visitors with three goals scored by Anthony Martial, the first hat-trick that has been scored by a Manchester United player in the Premier League since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.
The Red Devils now prepare to take on Norwich City F.C in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup at the Carrow Road Stadium. The away fixture for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would not be a tough one since Norwich City are on the brisk of being relegated to the second division next season as they currently are at the bottom of the Premier League table.
Meanwhile, reports from Diaro GOL claims that Manchester United has plans of making a few superstar signings this summer. The report states that the Red Devils plan on continuing their long history with Real Madrid by signing James Rodriguez and Achraf Hakimi who is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
The 28-year-old Colombian attacking midfielder was a star signing by Real Madrid after performing superbly at the 2014 World Cup where the former AS Monaco man picked up the coveted Golden Boot trophy for being the top scorer in the competition.
However, James Rodriguez did have an excellent debut season under Carlo Ancelotti and since then the South American player has slowly lost out on game time since the arrival of Casemiro in 2015. This season after completing a successful two-year loan spell at Bayern Munich, the midfielder has only featured in eight league games out of the 31 that have been played by Real Madrid.
It seems like James Rodriguez has grown tired over the lack of confidence shown by Zinedine Zidane and the player prefers a move elsewhere where he could utilise most of the remaining years left of his career since he has now entered the peak of his football career.
The same condition follows with Hakimi who has been linked to a move to Manchester United this summer despite his match-winning performances at Borussia Dortmund. The Moroccan right-back has made it clear that if he is to return to the Santiago Bernabeu next season then it would be on the condition that he would be the first choice right-back ahead of Spanish international, Dani Carvajal.
Hakimi’s bold demands may have not been taken well by Florentino Perez and Zinedine Zidane since Hakimi might be a better attacking full-back than Dani Carvajal, however, the Spanish international is an overall better full-back due to his defensive capabilities as well.
Although the Red Devils have Aaron Wan-Bissaka as their first-choice right-back, the addition of Hakimi would add more depth in the attacking third of United since the Borussia Dortmund man can be deployed as a right-winger due to his attacking capabilities and would be a better alternative than any of their available players. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could also rotate Wan-Bissaka with Hakimi when playing against defensive teams that would require the attacking options that can be provided by the Moroccan international.
James Rodriguez and Achraf Hakimi certainly would not come for cheap given their capabilities and potential. The English side would have to break the bank once again to land both the players from Madrid this summer transfer market. What do you make of James and Hakimi leaving the Santiago Bernabeu for the Old Trafford? Would both the players fit in at Manchester United and are they required signings?
