Manchester United remain optimistic to sign Europe’s wanted left-back who also happens to be a prime target for Chelsea this summer.

Manchester United is perhaps the team that has improved the most throughout the season. Jumping from fifth place in the league to third because of performances after the addition of Portuguese international, Bruno Fernandes, to the team. The Red Devils have been phenomenal ever since with inspiring team and individual efforts helping them clinch a spot in the Champions League.

With youngsters stepping up and helping out immensely in the attack, new addition Bruno Fernandes alongside Pogba in midfield, United have been great up the pitch. But one place the English side has lacked is the defense. The addition of Harry Maguire and Aaron-Wan-Bissaka have been major improvements, however, the club is still lacking a center-back to partner with Harry Maguire and a consistent left-back as Luke Shaw has missed around 20 games due to injuries.

To fix the problem at defense, coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has looked for options all across Europe for suitable replacements. One such possible option is Brazilian left-back Alex Telles who currently plays for FC Porto, according to recent reports. The wingback has been exceptional this season providing 11 goals and 8 assists from 31 games, even after playing a defensive position.

With the addition of the Brazilian in the squad, Manchester United could have an even more lethal attack while having a rock-solid defense. The 27-year-old partnered with Wan-Bissaka would make a deadly attack-defense duo with their pace, physicality, and presence on the pitch. Unlike Wan-Bissaka who still has to work on his crossing, Telles is a master of whipping balls into the opposition box which could prove to be lethal with Anthony Martial upfront.

Although linked with many clubs across Europe due to his eye-catching performances, there is another club interested in the Brazilian, which is another Premier League side, Chelsea. The Blues have also required a left-back and Alex Telles seemed to be a perfect fit for the team, but if reports are to be believed, then Manchester United might be leading the ones leading the race to sign the talented 27-year-old.
