Manchester City and Manchester United are reportedly willing to battle it out to land Tottenham Hotspur’s prized attacker.
Manchester United made a few nteresting recruitments last summer as they brought Edinson Cavani to Old Trafford. The Uruguayan striker was brought in by the club to act as a backup to Anthony Martial. The former Paris Saint-Germain striker has been impactful this season and has exceeded the initial expectations after scoring six goals in the Premier League.
Despite signing a world-class striker, the Red Devils have had hiccups in their final third this term as Martial has been dreadful in front of the goal. The Frenchman has scored only four goals in his 19 appearances and has looked out of sorts for the major portion of the league campaign.
Their crosstown rivals, Manchester City, have been a much better side this term as they have looked sharp at the front end of the pitch. The likes of Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling have been clinical and thus have seen their side go top of the table in the Premier League.
Both Manchester clubs are reportedly looking for a new striker this summer as reports from Todo Fichajes have stated that the Red Devils and the Sky Blues are eyeing a move for Harry Kane and are believed to have begun negotiations with the player’s agent.
The Tottenham Hotspur forward has been a consistent performer at the top level and has gone on to create records with the north London side. Back in November 2020, the Englishman registered his 200th goal for his side against Ludogrets in the Europa League and is presently the second-highest goalscorer of the club.
In the ongoing season, the striker has notched up 13 goals and 11 assists for Jose Mourinho’s side. The 27-year-old is currently the most important player in the team which explains why he is valued at a staggering fee of 120 million euros. The forward has a reputation for his excellent shooting skills and has also proven this season that he is much more than a fox in the box by registering 11 assists.
The Red Devils were previously linked with the English international but had failed to make a concrete offer for the services of the forward. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be keen to bring in another striker to the present roster in a bid to bring more quality to his attack.
On the other side of the town, the Sky Blues are likely to part ways with Sergio Aguero this summer and are thus looking for a proper replacement for the Argentine superstar. The Citizens are willing to bring in a top-class striker as Pep Guardiola is looking for a thorough striker. Manchester City are looking for a change and hence would be glad to see the spot filled by a more reputed name next season.
