Manchester United find an immediate replacement after losing out Sergio Reguilon to Tottenham Hotspur this summer
Manchester United have been linked with Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon. The 23-year-old Spaniard has been one of the very best in his position last season during his loan spell at Sevilla. The Red Devils showed a great deal of interest in signing the youngster, however, the negotiations were called off after Los Blancos were stern on adding a buy back clause to the contract.
Since United withdrew their interest for the former Sevilla man, Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as favourites. It has now been reported by several journalists that Real Madrid has agreed to 30 million euros transfer along with an option to buy the player back for 45 million euros. Jose Mourinho’s side has also sealed the deal to sign Gareth Bale on a season long loan and will pay 50% of his wages.
Manchester United was linked with both the players, however, luck has not fortuned the Red Devils as the duo are soon to be players of Spurs. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was eager on signing Reguilon since Luke Shaw continues to struggle with injuries and the young Brandon Williams still has a lot to learn before securing a first-team role for an entire season.
With Reguilon out of the market, the Red Devils have closed in on signing Alex Telles of Porto. The Brazilian scored 11 goals last season for Porto in the league along with 8 assists. His statistics are quite impressive since the player is a left-back. Telles is also left-footed which is a massive plus point for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Brandon Williams is a right-footed player that plays on the left-flank.
The Brazilian left-back will certainly be a massive addition as the player has a serious attacking threat. Telles is a brilliant passer of the ball and his crossing skill could prove to be lethal when making overlapping runs down the wing . However, the 27-year-old is not as good at defending as he is at attacking.
Nonetheless, Manchester United can sign Alex Telles for just 40 million euros and the 27-year-old is most likely to sign a long term contract. Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams would have to up their game if they are to compete with Telles next season for a spot in the team.
