Manchester United find their potential replacement for Matic as they close in on signing Juventus’s versatile midfielder at the end of the season.
Manchester United prepare to take on Leicester City this Sunday evening at the King Power Stadium in what could be described as the most important game for both sides to finish in the top four spot of the Premier League.
The Red Devils have been on fine form since the resumption of the Premier League as the addition of Bruno Fernandes in the midfield has proven to be pivotal for the team. The resumption of football in England has also seen Nemanja Matic revive his career as the 31-year-old Serbian has regained his past form that made the Red Devils purchase him in the summer of 2017 from Chelsea.
Matic’s form recently has also seen him earned plaudits from several pundits and the former Chelsea Blue recently signed a contract extension with Manchester United that would keep the midfielder at the Old Trafford till the summer of 2023.
Despite offering Matic a contract renewal, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has still decided to keep a lookout for a potential young replacement for the Serbian midfielder. Calciomercato reports that the Premier League side has shortlisted Juventus’s debutant free signing Adrien Rabiot.
Rabiot secured a move to the Bianconeri last summer from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer alongside Aaron Ramsey of Arsenal. However, Rabiot’s short stint at the Juventus stadium has received a mixed share of criticism and plaudits.
The French midfielder hammered his first goal for the Old Lady of Turin against AC Milan, however, his celebrations were cut short after arch-rivals AC Milan pulled themselves to turn the score around.
The report claims that the Turin based team is open to hearing offers for their 25-year-old midfielder despite Rabiot improving his gameplay since the resumption of the league. For the Serie A side, selling Rabiot would help them balance their financial operations since they signed the midfielder for free and could offload him this summer for a decent fee.
Everton and Newcastle United have shown interest as well to sign the French midfielder and if the Red Devils are actually eager to land Rabiot then they must act quickly to snatch the player.
