Manchester United enter the competition to sign a primary Real Madrid target in one of the 2021 transfer windows.
Real Madrid target Eduardo Camavinga has made headlines in the international break after scoring on his international debut for France. The defensive midfielder is tipped to become one of the world’s best in the coming years and as a result, he has been on the radar of some of Europe’s finest clubs.
The 17-year-old currently plays for Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes and has captured eyes of clubs from all around Europe, the most prominent being Los Blancos themselves. The youngster was set to join the La Liga champions from the 2020-2021 season, however due to the economic difficulties because of the coronavirus pandemic, a move was temporarily ruled out.
Consequently, Camavinga continues to be their main target alongside his international teammate Kylian Mbappe, for the 2021 season.
Zinedine Zidane believes that the Frenchman would make a perfect replacement for Casemiro. However, it would not be easy to land the midfielder as his playstyle have attracted a number of clubs with deep pockets with the most recent reportedly being Manchester United.
The Red Devils, were late to realise their mistakes from the transfer window this season as reinforcements were needed but hardly any were made to improve the evidently shambolic state of the club.
In order to make amends, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have joined the race to sign Camavinga. United have no shortage of attacking oriented midfielders with Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek, the addition of the French teenager would prove to be a much-needed defensive option for Solskjaer, taking pressure off the backline.
As it stands, Real Madrid still continue to lead the race to sign the youngster, and with the fact that the France international idiolizes Cristiano Ronaldo, a player that hit his peak with the Merengues, it seems highly likely that Camavinga might wish to follow his footsteps. Moreover, his compatriot Zinedine Zidane managing the Whites may also have a significant influence on Camavinga’s choices.
