Manchester United receive a massive lead in their pursuit to sign Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli
Manchester United has progressed to the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League after a close call victory that ended one-nil in favour to the Red Devils in the quarter-finals of the competition. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also guided his side to a Champions League spot for the 2020/21 season and the men from Old Trafford are eager to put on a good show next season in Europe’s elite stage.
The attack seems to be flawless at United, with in-form Anthony Martial along with Marcus Rashford and the young Mason Greenwood, the attack seems to be the least concern for the Norwegian manager. Meanwhile, the defensive department has been quite impressive as well in the Premier League, however, left-back is certainly needed as Luke Shaw continues to struggle to keep fit while Brandon Williams seems shaky.
However, rumours also claim that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in the market for a central defender to pair up with the club’s captain Harry Maguire. Reports from Italy state that the Premier League side from Manchester has shown serious interest in signing Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli.
The 29-year-old Senegal international has entered the prime of his career and is now prepared to take on a new challenge where he could possibly win a few major trophies as well. Although Koulibaly may have not been at his best against Barcelona recently, the Senegal centre-back would be a massive addition at United given his reputation along with his capabilities.
The report from Italy goes on to state that Manchester United are willing to pay up to 75 million euros as the Red Devils have made Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund their priority signing for the summer. Napoli demands a figure of 100 million euros for their defender, however, if the price is not met, the report states that the Serie-A side would let their player leave for a discounted fee.
Manchester City have also shown serious interest in signing the player to form a rock-solid partnership alongside Aymeric Laporte. However, Pep Guardiola also has his eye on Pau Torres and Diego Carlos of the La Liga Santander.
Manchester United could possibly sign Kalidou Koulibaly if the Sky Blues of Manchester end their pursuit to sign the Senegal international.
