Manchester City are already planning for life in 2021/22 after making a subpar start to the current campaign in the Premier League.

The rebuilding process has already started at Manchester City with the next season in mind.

The club managed to settle Pep Guardiola down at the Etihad Stadium until 2023 with a fresh extension of two years. Kevin De Bruyne has already stated that his own extension with City is only a matter of time, and one would think that negotiations with Raheem Sterling wouldn’t be too difficult either.

Sergio Aguero though, has his future up in the air with the Citizens and naturally, the side will go up in the market to look for his replacement. Aguero is 32 and whether he renews or not, a replacement must be signed. It seems the 6-time Premier League winners are targeting Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane to fill in Aguero’s shoes, as per Todo Fichajes.

As far as landing Kane is concerned, Manchester City need to shell out roughly 120 million pounds. He will be an expensive buy even by the club’s standard, but that will mean that the Sky Blues will need to let go of a few players to recover at least a part of the sum and especially to remain free from the Financial Fair Play scanner.

The England international’s fantastic goal-scoring prowess needs no introduction and his involvement in the overall gameplay has only improved. With his terrific form in front of goal and incredible ability to drop back and create space for the wingers, he is a complete package and the player’s ability will certainly be used extensively by a tactical genius like Guardiola.

However, his signing is easier said than done.

While Manchester City can surely use their financial prowess to lure Kane, it seems unlikely that he will leave the club, especially considering the successes he has had in a short span under Jose Mourinho. Moreover, the Englishman has always asserted his commitment to Tottenham which may passively signal that he does not intend to play for any other side, at least in the Premier League.

Do you think Kane will be playing for Manchester City next season?
