Manchester City are reportedly preparing a 100 million euro move for an Inter Milan striker this summer transfer window.
With Sergio Aguero set to leave at the end of the season, Manchester City are on the lookout for a replacement. The Sky Blues have been linked with several names in the past including the likes of Erling Haaland and Lautaro Martinez. However, reports now claim that a former Manchester United star has been added to the list of strikers.
The 27-year-old striker has established himself as one of the world’s best forward since joining forces with Antonio Conte last season. In his debut season at San Siro, Lukaku scored 23 league goals in 36 appearances- averaging a goal every 129 minutes.
This season, the Belgium international has stepped up further in terms of his output in front of goal- scoring 21 goals so far in the league and averaging a goal every 119 minutes.
It is fair to say that Lukaku has turned his career around after a rather controversial spell with Manchester United. With that being said, Manchester City are keen on recruiting the 27-year-old this summer. However, it may not be that easy a transfer for the Sky Blues to pull off.
Romelu Lukaku has become an integral part Inter Milan’s squad under Antonio Conte. It is highly unlikely that the Italian manager would let his striker leave next season. However, the pandemic has created several financial issues for Inter and Lukaku is amongst the highest-paid players at the club. While Conte may not want his Belgian striker to leave, Inter Milan may not have any other option but to sell the 27-year-old if their financial situation fails to improve.
Lukaku will certainly be an ideal signing for Manchester City, however, adapting to Pep Guardiola‘s style of play could be a task for the former Everton striker. Guardiola requirements of a striker may not match the player profile of the Inter Milan superstar, however, he certainly does offer a lot more including with his raw physicality and pace.
