Manchester City eye a move for Erling Haaland and Harry Kane

Manchester City will be looking to sign a quality striker after Sergio Aguero‘s departure in the summer was confirmed by the club.

Manchester City will bid adieu to another legend this summer, as the club’s record goal-scorer, Sergio Aguero will part ways at the end of the season. The club’s interest in signing a world-class striker this summer has been well-documented in the past month.

The Sky Blues have several strikers on their radar, as the likes of Erling Haaland and Harry Kane remain their top priority for the summer. As reported by BBC, Pep Guardiola is keen on signing the Borussia Dortmund striker in order to fill Aguero’s void. The Norwegian forward has been a prolific goal-scorer for his club, scoring 21 goals in the Bundesliga this season. Recently, Haaland scored his 20th goal in the Champions League in only 14 appearances in a crunch fixture against Sevilla.

However, the presence of Mino Raiola as the agent of the 20-year old striker makes the deal a bit more complex. Raiola had suggested a potential move for Haaland in the summer in his latest interview with the Athletic. The striker’s contract at Dortmund expires in the summer of 2024, with a release clause of 75 million euros which is expected to be activated in 2022.

In this scenario, a move for Haaland in the next summer sounds more plausible as Manchester City can outbid the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona. Given the financial constraints at the two Spanish clubs, they are likely to keep out of the transfer as Borussia Dortmund will look to cash in on the highly-rated marksman.

Meanwhile, Harry Kane has been shortlisted by Manchester City as an alternative to Erling Haaland. The English striker who turns 28 this year will be desperate to add some piece of silverware in his cabinet.

Tottenham Hotspur have gone downhill since the appointment of Jose Mourinho as their manager in 2019, with a spot in the Champions League next season looking doubtful. The Englishman still has three years left on his Spurs contract after the conclusion of the current season, and City will be looking at a transfer fee of around 90-100 million pounds.

The upcoming transfer window will prove to be very vital for Pep Guardiola as they will look to sign a long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero. Gabriel Jesus is another talented striker at the club, but the Brazilian still cannot be trusted to lead the attack despite his recent success in front of goal.
