Manchester City has now joined the race alongside Juventus to compete for the signing of Sassuolo’s talented midfielder, Manuel Locatelli.
Manchester City are eyeing Manuel Locatelli of Sassuolo as a potential signing for the next season. The former AC Milan midfielder is also on the radar of Juventus who are keen on adding numbers to their midfield, as per Daily Mail.
With Fernandinho leaving the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season, 23-year-old Locatelli has been identified as a replacement for the Brazilian. Juventus are also keen on replacing Sami Khedira whose contract expires next summer, however, the Bianconeri will have to compete with City for Locatelli’s signature.
The promising talent is currently valued at 35 million euros following his breakthrough season with Sassuolo. However, it has not been an easy way to the top for Manuel Locatelli. The 23-year-old was once considered as a future star during his stint with AC Milan that did not go as planned. A loan move to Sassuolo has helped the young midfielder revive his career by turning a new leaf.
Manuel Locatelli’s style of play has drawn comparisons with that of Andrea Pirlo. Like Pirlo, Locatelli operates as a defensive midfielder with exceptional passing, dribbling, vision along with the ability to have a shot on goal from a distance. Andrea Pirlo himself is quite flattered with the way Locatelli plays and wants to have the youngster at the Juventus Stadium.
The player’s agent has also dropped a hint in a recent interview when questioned about his client’s future:
“I think he is looking for a different experience, in Italy or abroad. He dreams of playing the Champions League”
The 23-year-old wants to play in the UEFA Champions League next season. Both Manchester City and Juventus can offer the Italian the opportunity to play in Europe’s elite competition. Who do you think will be able to land Locatelli? the Sky Blues or the Bianconeri?
