Luis Suarez has rejected Arsenal ace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang linked with replacing him at Barcelona.
Barcelona are currently looking into signing a long term successor to aging Luis Suarez but there aren’t many players available in the current market.
Inter Milan striker, Lautaro Martinez, has been leading the race to secure a move to Camp Nou, but the way the current negotiations are going, there is an equal possibility that the Catalans might fail to secure the talented Argentinian.
Barca’s latest offer of 70 million euros with an additional player like Junior Firpo or Phillipe Coutinho has been rejected by the Nerazzurri, quoting that they desire an additional 20 million.
Blaugrana sporting director, Eric Abidal, has placed Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as a possible alternative. The Gabonese international has his current contract expiring in 2021 which might lead Arsenal to sell their star forward for cheap.
Suarez, however, is not convinced that Aubemeyang is the right fit for the Catalans due to the difference in playstyle. Meanwhile, the club’s hierarchy are internally studying whether they truly require a replacement that is similar to Suarez or perhaps sign a different player.
Lautaro Martinez has so far been the best candidate to land the spot as he has similar attributes to Suarez in terms of speed, physic, power, strength, and ability to score.
The reason why Barca are looking into a player with a unique characteristic is because having Suarez has not lead to glory in recent years, leading the hierarchy to believe that perhaps a change in playstyle is what the club currently needs.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is certainly not the choice Barca should be making as they would only be adding another aged players onto their roster. Arsenal’s lethal marksman does possess the quality but he is now 31 and just a couple of years younger than the Uruguay international, meaning he doesn’t have much gas left in the cylinders.
Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez is nearly double the price being estimated for the Gabon international, but he is ten years younger and has started off much brilliantly. Additionally, he is wishing to play for the Catalans and has also been recommended by Lionel Messi. As such, he should be the number one and not much should be contemplated while trying to sign him up.
