Liverpool is looking for a transfer featuring one of Watford’s best players this season, after their relegation to the Championship.
After a promising start to the 2019-2020 season in the Premier League, it was thought by many that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool might possibly break Arsenal’s unbeaten record in the league. The Reds looked unbeatable and broke down even the toughest of oppositions. Already favorites to win the league Klopp’s side not only went unbeaten for 44 games but were also looking to beat the record of the most points in a single season.
However, the dreams of the Merseyside soon came crashing down due to an unexpected defeat at the hands of Watford, losing 3-0 to the Hornets. The most impressive player in the game wasn’t one from Liverpool either, it was the 22-year-old winger who plays for Watford, Ismaila Sarr. Since then, all of England’s spotlight was on the youngster. In his first season in the Premiership, the Senegalese managed to find the back of the net five times, two of them being against last seasons’ Champions League winners.
After a relatively successful debut season in the English League, teams from around Europe were suddenly interested in nabbing the 22-year-old, the most prominent reportedly, being the Reds themselves. However, a move to Anfield might be favorable for both the parties, with Watford getting relegated to the Championship for the next season and Liverpool lacking a quality backup winger.
In Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane, the Reds have a deadly attacking force, but they don’t have any proper backups for either of the African superstars. Sarr might be the perfect candidate to fill up such a role, with pace and great attacking threat. Also being just 22 years of age, the youngster would have plenty of time to develop further under Klopp.
Apart from Liverpool, clubs like Wolves and Crystal Palace have also shown interest in attaining the services of Sarr. Due to such demand, the Hornets are demanding around 40 million euros for him, which is the highest the club has ever sold any player for.
After bringing him in for Rennes last season for 30 million euros the price tag for the Senegalese youngster is justified. A move to Anfield is highly probable for Sarr, which could feature him playing alongside his hero Sadio Mane, and the Premier League champions also have a lot to gain from the move.
