Liverpool have devised a clear plan ahead of their deadline day tasks as they look forward to making minor tweaks in their setup
Liverpool has been successful in making two great additions in their squad this summer. The arrivals of Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota have bolstered the squad depth of Klopp’s side. The Reds have a set of objectives that are to be fulfilled before the transfer window closes on Monday. The Premier League champions are willing to make some changes to their present squad, according to reports.
The first objective of Klopp’s side would be to sell their surplus players. The likes of Harry Wilson and Xherdan Shaqiri have been deemed excess to team requirements. Both players have failed to break into the first-team and have been assigned a bench role for the Reds. Shaqiri had managed only seven appearances in the Premier League whereas Wilson has had only a lone appearance in the EFL Competition.
The second objective involves making a last-ditch effort to sign one of their transfer targets. Ousmane Dembele had received interest from the Reds and was offered a loan deal to make a switch to the Anfield. The English Champions have already had a bid rejected by Barcelona but might offer an improved deal for the Frenchman before the end of the transfer window.
Klopp’s side is also looking to seek clarity on Wijnaldum’s future at the club as the Dutchman had reportedly received interest from the Blaugrana. At present, the former Newcastle man is staying at Anfield and is happy to see out his contract.
Liverpool has had a strange start to their title defense as they have already conceded 11 goals in 4 games.
However, the club faced one of their worst defeats against Aston Villa as Dean Smith’s side thrashed the defending champions in a seven-goal riot. The Reds have not been alarmed by their humiliating loss against the Lions but will certainly look to iron out their remaining flaws in their star-studded squad.
Klopp’s side will be hoping that they achieve some of their set objectives as the club has the responsibility to defend their League title and secure a seventh Champions League title.
