Liverpool have reportedly found a potential replacement for Virgil van Dijk as they look to make a move for Bundesliga defender
Liverpool has started their season on a positive note as the club has already reached the top of table in the Premier League. The English outfit has gathered 16 points in their first six games in the league and has maintained a 100 percent win record in their Champions League campaign.
Klopp’s side has although had to face few hiccups at the very start of their season as they faced one of their worst defeats in league football as they were thrashed by the Lions in a seven-goal thriller at Villa Park. The defending champions faced another setback in the Merseyside derby as they lost their star defender Virgil van Dijk to an ACL injury on his right leg which supposedly will keep him on the sidelines till April.
According to reports, Liverpool has reportedly found an alternative for the Dutch defender as the club has identified Malick Thiaw as an ideal replacement for the injured centre-back. The FC Schalke teenager has been a bright spot for the club’s under-19 side and has earned a place in the first team by the virtue of his impressive outings for the younger team.
The 19-year-old centre-half has had very little experience of first-team football but has shown a great sense of maturity and character in his time with the senior side. In the ongoing season, the Finnish youngster has appeared only twice for the Miners and has already scored his first goal with the German club.
The Reds altogether face a different dilemma as they look to find a similar replacement for the Dutch international and presently have had to rely on the likes of Fabinho, Joel Matip, and Nathaniel Philip for the centre-back position. The club might sign the Schalke youngster as a cover for their injured star but would also look to groom the player and develop him into a potential star at Anfield.
