Liverpool tipped as favourites to sign Bayern Munich superstar who is open to a new challenge in his career.
Liverpool cruised past Crystal Palace at Anfield by 4 goals to nil that has seen the Reds top the Premier League by a ridiculous 23 points lead. Jurgen Klopp’s are currently preparing to take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this Friday and the fixture could decide the title for Liverpool.
If the men in Red clinch all three points against Manchester City in their away fixture then Liverpool would be crowned champions of England for the first time since the 1989-90 season and it would be Jurgen Klopp’s third league title in his managerial career.
Despite being confirmed winners of the 2019/20 season of the Premier League, Jurgen Klopp and his team of officials felt let down after they lost their long-term target Timo Werner to arch-rivals, Chelsea. The German striker was tipped to a move to the Anfield in the summer of 2020 and the Reds were the favourite to sign the talismanic Bundesliga striker, however, reports claim that the Reds had made no official bid and Timo Werner was not willing to hang on onto nothing.
However, although Liverpool has lost Timo Werner to Chelsea unfortunately, reports from Sport BILD claim that Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League side has shown interest in signing Bayern Munich’s creative attacking midfielder, Thiago Alcantara.
In the summer of 2017, Bayern Munich had announced on their social media platforms that Thiago Alcantara has signed a four-year contract renewal that would keep him at the Allianz Arena until the summer of 2021.
Since the former Barcelona midfielder’s contract expires in 2021, this summer transfer market is the best shot the Bavarian based team has at selling their superstar for a hefty price otherwise they could potentially lose the player on a free transfer.
Liverpool would have to offer a figure close to 50 million euros to sign the Bavarian based midfielder and the reports from the Daily Mirror state that the former Barcelona man is keen on signing for Liverpool and is open for a new challenge in his life after representing Bayern Munich for the past seven seasons.
Thiago Alcantara would turn out to be the steal of the new decade if Jurgen Klopp’s side manages to sign the player who is up in the transfer market for 48 million euros. Thiago would add the much-needed creativity in the midfield and the player also possesses the dribbling and technical qualities that most elite wingers have. The addition of the Bayern Munich man would not only add creativity to the squad but would also add versatility since Thiago can be fielded in several different positions in the midfield and occasionally on the flanks as well if need be.
The Spanish midfielder is currently recovering from a groin injury and is expected to return by early July. The 29-year-old was once tipped by former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez as a prodigy and today, the very same world-class midfielder might be on his way to Anfield.
