Liverpool eye a magnificent move for one of the best Premier League players in order to strengthen their roster.
Liverpool are now two matches without a win following the 2-2 draw against Everton on Saturday. The Reds have now conceded nine times in their last two Premier League fixtures, which has been a true indication of their defensive frailties as well as the over-reliance on Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the attack. The African forwards have scored five of Liverpool’s previous seven goals now.
Jurgen Klopp is looking to address his issues at the back, keeping in mind Trent Alexander-Arnold’s defensive lapses as well as further forward where the side needs more scoring output. With that in mind, he has once again ignited interest in landing Wolverhampton Wanderers’ multifaceted player in Adama Traore, according to the Express.
Rapid pace, elite mentality and unmatched physique are just some of the attributes that make Adama Traore one of the most feared right-wingers in the Premier League in recent times. With a major stake in all the good that happens at the Molineux, the former Barcelona star is a crucial part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s tactics.
The Spanish winger managed to make 37 appearances out of the possible 38 in the Premier League last season, scoring four goals and assisting five times in the process. The 24-year-old has been electrifying the Premier League with his fascinating performances as the top European clubs take note. Besides Liverpool, Barcelona and Manchester City have also reportedly kept an eye on the player.
Klopp has urged the Liverpool board to recruit the former La Masia product as soon as the winter transfer window opens in order to fortify his attacking options for the ongoing season and reduce the burden from the attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohammed Salah.
The former Borussia Dortmund coach has been a long time admirer of the 24-year-old winger and expressed his admiration for Traore several times, referring to him as “unplayable” when the two sides met last time around in the Premier League. On paper, Traore should perfectly sync with Klopp’s tactic as he is athletically capable of leading the German manager’s pressing tactics.
The financial aspect of the deal seems to elude the Merseyside club, restricting the deal from being completed. After a lot of speculations, Liverpool signed Traore’s teammate Diogo Jota for a good amount of 40 million pounds, earlier last month, in addition to Thiago Alcantara for roughly 30 million pounds.
Adama Traore also brings a huge deal of versatility to the setup, which also makes him a good option to back Trent Alexander-Arnold up given the young Englishman’s lack of defensive acumen. With that being said however, it may be difficult to accommodate the Spain international in the squad given the sheer quality at Klopp’s disposal even if the Merseysiders can afford a deal for him.
Do you think Jurgen Klopp will have his man in the January transfer window?
