Liverpool inch closer towards their third signing of the summer as the Reds show interest in a Premier League forward

The 2020/21 Premier League season has not started on the perfect note for the champions, Liverpool. The Reds were close to dropping points against Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United at Anfield, however, the last minute penalty secured all three points for Klopp and his men. A close call victory that has not impressed the former Borussia Dortmund manager who believes that his squad requires more depth if they are to defend their Premier League title or win the Champions League.

The Reds have signed Kosatas Tsimikas and are set to announce the signing of Thiago Alcantara very soon. The addition of these two players has provided depth in the defence and midfielder, however, the concern is in the attacking department. Klopp has been blessed that neither of the front three forwards are injury prone. Having said that, the German manager is on the lookout for a versatile forward and has shown serious interest in Diogo Jota of Wolverhampton.

The 23-year-old Portuguese left-winger has been a controversial figure lately at Wolves. The former Atletico Madrid man was left on the bench in the opening matchday of the Premier League for Wolverhamtpon and the player had also left the game against Stoke City before the Carabao fixture even began. It has now been reported that Liverpool has shown a great deal of interest in signing the player, according to the Times.

Diogo Jota has played a crucial role in Wolves promotion from the Championship to the Premier League scoring 17 goals in the second-divsion to help the side get promoted. Since then Jota has scored 16 goals in the English top-flight in 67 games. The former Atletico Madrid forward is not a lethal goal-scorer, however, the player is versatile and play as either a left-winger or centre-forward.

The Portuguese international is only 23, and with time on his side it is rest assured that the player can develop into a phenomenal forward under Jurgen Klopp. Diogo Jota’s addition will certainly boost the squad and offer Klopp more options from the bench.
