Leeds United reinstate their interest to sign Daniel James from Manchester United after failing to do so in 2018
Leeds United have made a decent start in the Premier League after a 16-year wait to return to the English top-flight. The newly-promoted club has already scored seven goals in their first two games including their 4-3 defeat against Liverpool which saw them score thrice against the champions.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side is looking to add more firepower to their present lineup to compete in the Premier League. Daniel James of Manchester United is being touted as a possible target for the Peacocks, according to reports. The youngster was set to sign for Leeds in 2018 after agreeing to personal terms, however, Swansea City stalled the negotiations which saw the Welsh winger headback to Swansea.
After a successful spell in with Swansea City in the Championship, Daniel James signed for Manchester United in the summer of 2019. Since his arrival at the Old Trafford, the pacy winger had a good start to his United campaign, scoring three goals in four games. However, the youngster’s hot run of form fizzled out with time and has now been deemed by several as a flop signing.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer relied on Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and his selection has reaped rewards for the side as the Red Devils finished third last season. James has been used more as a backup for the front three and as a matter of fact, it has reduced his game time at United.
With Marcelo Bielsa looking to add more pace and depth in their attack, the Welsh winger might find Leeds as a proper destination to get more starts for the club and also improve his game in the process. The Red Devils may not be ready to sell their young acquisition but might consider a loan deal for the youngster.
Currently, United are in talks with Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho and Alex Telles of Porto. It has been rumored that Telles has agreed to personal terms with the club and only a transfer fee has to be agreed to. Only time will tell whether Manchester United make more signings this summer.
