Real Madrid will look to sign Kylian Mbappe in the next few weeks as they look to make a much-needed addition to their squad.
Kylian Mbappe has formally announced to Paris Saint-Germain that he will not be extending his stay at the Parc des Princes beyond June 2022. The Frenchman is likely to stay in the Ligue 1 until the expiry of his contract due to PSG’s eagerness in holding onto him. He intends to leave in a peaceful manner and does not want to wage a war against the club.
According to Marca, the 22-year-old was considering a short-term renewal with Paris Saint-Germain but wanted to have a special clause in which he could be allowed to leave for Real Madrid. The Parisians have turned down the forward’s request as such an agreement in player contracts is prohibited as per the respective French sporting legislations.
Real Madrid are yet to make an official bid to sign Mbappe, but it only seems to be a matter of time before that happens. Los Blancos have the odds in their favour over the World Cup winner’s signing as he could become a free agent next summer and Paris Saint-Germain would not be able to cash-in on the multimillions they can earn this summer by selling him.
Mbappe’s arrival could cost Real Madrid close to 150 million euros, making him the club’s most expensive signing till date. Given that the club needs a goal-scorer and a long-term option too, Florentino Perez may not hesitate in spending lavishly in the ongoing transfer window on a player of Mbappe’s calibre and PSG could be keen on getting rid of him too.
Carlo Ancelotti’s charges have started pre-season and get their La Liga campaign underway midway through August against Deportivo Alaves. The 62-year-old will hope to have Mbappe in his roster for the very first game of the season and there is no doubt that Real Madrid will at least make a genuine attempt at landing the former Monaco prodigy.
How highly do you rate Real Madrid’s chances of signing Mbappe this summer, on a scale of 1 to 5?
