Kylian Mbappe has asked to leave Paris Saint-Germain

Kylian Mbappe, arguably the best player on the current Paris Saint-Germain roster, would like to leave the club to pursue greener pastures.

Paris Saint-Germain are set to complete two world-class signings in Achraf Hakimi and Gianluigi Donnarumma. While personal terms with the Moroccan have been agreed, the goalkeeper’s signing is only pending official confirmation now. Apart from the new arrivals which include Georginio Wijnaldum too, the club has managed to extend Neymar’s contract until 2025.

However, the club’s sporting project has been handed a major blow as Kylian Mbappe has asked to leave the club this summer, according to RMC Sport’s Daniel Riolo, as reported by Marca. Riolo was quoted claiming that the Frenchman would not stay in France for longer.

I know that Mbappe asked to leave. If he does not leave this summer, it will be for free next season. But yes, the news is that Mbappe does not want to stay at PSG.

Mbappe’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the 2021/22 campaign and even with just one year remaining on his existing deal, Real Madrid dream about signing him this summer. Los Blancos will surely be hoping that the World Cup winner leaves PSG soon as they see him an integral figure of their long-term project.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi seemed convinced about Mbappe staying some time ago but claims about the player’s desire to leave may hold true now. Although PSG have dominated the Ligue 1 for several years now, they have fallen short in the Champions League, thereby reducing chances of the likes of Mbappe and Neymar of winning the prestigious individual awards.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, have a great track record in the European Cup and are practically just one regular goal-scorer away from reaching the summit of Spanish football. If Mbappe and the Whites unite, it will be seen as a match made in heaven because the 22-year-old would be the face of the team for years to come.

Paris Saint-Germain, on the other hand, will have to put in a considerable amount of effort to replace Mbappe, who is nothing short of a generational talent. They are likely to turn to Cristiano Ronaldo this summer but the Portuguese will only be a short-term cover considering that he is 36 and at the dusk of his career.
