Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has taken to Twitter to slam one of his biggest critics in what he probably feels is a fake sign of praise.

Real Madrid won La Liga last week and now all attentions turn towards their Champions League fixture against Manchester City. Karim Benzema was the protagonist in the Spanish top-flight for Zinedine Zidane’s side whereas all attentions will be towards him to deliver the goods when the Whites travel to Etihad Stadium hoping to overturn a 2-1 deficit.

With that said, the Merengues’ marksman has broken several records this season and one of those is to have reached the fourth top scorer’s spot in the club’s illustrious history. Cristiano Ronaldo having moved to Juventus has had big benefits towards Big Benz, who is finally showing that he can grab the limelight to good avail as well.

In fact, he was also on the shortlist to win the Ballon d’Or prior to its cancellation and has been the subject of widespread from the best of coaches and journalists in Europe. As such, the 32-year-old was also given a pat on his back by France Football President Noel Le Graet, who has otherwise been very critical of his compatriot after the infamous sex-tape incident.

Benzema has completed the best season of his career, he’s been exceptional for Real Madrid. He is right now one of the best.

ESPN has reported that despite being praised by the national side’s president, Karim Benzema has thumbed his nose into Le Graet’s as he took to Twitter for addressing the French chief’s words.

“I prefer to laugh” was what Benzema intended to say.

It makes sense that Benzema has no regard for the French president as he has constantly been dug at due to his off-field issues with Mathieu Valbuena, which even with the legal forces intervening seem to have settled. A lot of campaigning has been done about why the former Lyon man must be allowed back into the national team, but Le Graet has refused.

Having said that, Didier Deschamps and Noel Le Graet have been aggressive against Karim Benzema who is deserving of a call-up into the national team. Olivier Giroud, who has been one of the most overrated strikers across Europe in recent years has been called up on a regular basis into the France side, but the Real Madrid forward has had outright unfair treatment.

Didier Deschamps is reportedly interested in bringing the Los Blancos’ superstar but has stated that in the best of interests of those around him, it cannot be done. The problem seems to be the 78-year-old Noel Le Graet who seems to be holding a grudge against Benzema, which clearly looks unprofessional and undeserving given how things panned out.

Karim Benzema has not featured for France since October 2015 when they beat Armenia 4-0, with the striker bagging a brace. Without him as well, the defending World Cup winners have done well and also finished second in the Euro 2016. However, one may argue and rightly so about Big Benz being unjustly taken away of two major international accolades.
