Andrea Pirlo of Juventus is considering the plausible signing of a Real Madrid outcast this winter transfer window
Juventus were completely outplayed by Barcelona in their recent Champions League clash at the Allianz Stadium. The Bianconeri played the game without their main man, Cristiano Ronaldo, who was not included in the squad list after contracting Coronavirus.
One of the primary reasons why Juventus were outplayed and were dominated by Barca was due to the lack of intensity and creativity in the midfield. The Catalans pressed high to win the ball and maintained a disciplined approach when doing so that saw Andrea’s Pirlo’s men succumb to the tactic.
What Juventus was lacking in their midfield to beat Barca’s counter pressing was a creative midfielder that is highly press resistant. The Bianconeri do have Arthur Melo who fits that category, however, the Brazilian international lacks intensity due to his poor physical conditioning.
Having said that reports from Italy state that Juve is looking into the option of signing Isco of Real Madrid. The former Golden Boy winner in 2013 has not been at his best for the past three seasons or so and the primary reason is his poor conditioning.
However, at the age of 28, there is still room for improvement and the Spaniard can easily find his true form back if he manages to improve his physique. The former Malaga midfielder played a crucial role for Zinedine Zidane in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 season as Isco was often deployed as the center-attacking midfielder in the diamond formation.
Andrea Pirlo seems to be confident that the Bianconeri coaching staff could get Isco’s form back that could certainly prove to be an important factor to improve the midfield. Given the lack of playing time at Madrid, it seems like Zidane and Isco do not get along well and could open the door for a possible move.
Real have Dani Ceballos, Fede Valverde, and Martin Odegaard as their next generation of midfielders. Having said that, one can say that the departure of Isco would not hamper or cause an imbalance in the squad or in the near future.
