Juventus are pondering over the possibility of signing out of favour Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud this winter transfer market.
Juventus have gotten off to a flying start in 2021 after an emphatic win against Udinese in Serie A. The Bianconeri have been on fine form recently and soon to be 36-year-old Crisitano Ronaldo continues to find the back of the net on a consistent basis despite his age. However, Andrea Pirlo still reckons that his side requires another such potent goal-scorer alongside the former Real Madrid forward.
Although, Juventus do have Alvaro Morata who has been one of their best performers this season, the club believes that they require a more steady and consistent goal-scorer if they are to win the Serie A this season. The player that fits Pirlo’s description and category perfectly is Olivier Giroud of Chelsea. The French striker has been clinical in front of goal this season despite playing second to fiddle to Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham. Sky Sports reports that Juventus are eager on signing Giroud this winter transfer market.
Giroud has been Frank Lampard‘s standout performer this season, scoring three goals in four Premier League starts coupled with five goals in four UEFA Champions League group apperances. The former Arsenal striker has been firing all cylinders this season but continues to have sporadic role under Lampard who prefers using the likes of Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham who have been wasteful in front of goal.
With that being said, Olivier Giroud is a man on a mission and is looking for game-time to make the most out of his final few years of his career. At the age of 34, Giroud still has a season or two under his belt and could easily perform in the Serie A since it is not as physically demanding as the Premier League.
The question remains is whether Chelsea are prepared to let Olivier Giroud leave this winter as the London side are aware how important his goal-scoring exploits are this season. With Timo Werner’s horrible goal-less strecth continuing in the Premier League, it would be foolish if Frank Lampard decided to sell Giroud to Juventus.
