Juventus monitoring fellow Serie A striker over a potential switch

Juventus are closely monitoring the transfer situation of Papu Gomez at Atalanta. The Serie A champions are keen on acquiring his services.

Juventus are keen on acquiring the services of 32-year-old Papu Gomez. The Argentine forward has fallen down the pecking order at Atalanta after his fall-out with the first team manager, Gian Piero Gasperini. Gomez has been dropped from the first-team squad in three consecutive league fixtures now and an exit is the only option remaining for the forward.

At Turin, Juventus are closely monitoring his situation. Andrea Pirlo is on the lookout for another forward and has his eyes on Papu Gomez and Olivier Giroud. However, Chelsea has no plans of parting ways with Giroud despite not making the most out of the player. Having said that, the next best shot for the Bianconeri is Papu Gomez.

Despite his age, Gomez at the age of 32 is at the top of his game. Before being confined to the bench, Alejandro Gomez started his campaign on a bright note scoring four goals in ten games in Serie A. His creativity and ability to find the net makes him a lucrative target for Andrea Pirlo at Juventus. The Argentine forward can play as a striker and as a central attacking midfielder as well thus providing several options.

However, before the Bianconeri can begin talks over a potential signing of Papu Gomez this January transfer window. Juventus will have to first sell a player to make way for the South American. On such player who is not part of Pirlo’s plans in Federico Bernardeschi who has been on the radar of Hertha Berlin.

If Juventus managed to offload Bernardeschi this winter to Hertha Berlin then the possible signing of Alejandro Gomez could on the cards.
