Reports from Italy state that a Juventus forward has turned down the opportunity to play for a Premier League giant
In hopes of improving their performances and results, Juventus have appointed club legend Andrea Pirlo as the team’s head coach for the 2020-2021 season. The Italian plans on bringing major improvements to the team, starting by changing the style in which they played under Maurizio Sarri. The next step would be to bring in reinforcements in young and promising players, but this has been limited due to the economic situations currently posed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The 41-year-old, however, has still managed to do so to some extent, with the sale of Miralem Pjanic and the oncoming of a much younger, Arthur Melo from Barcelona. To further carry on like this, the Turin side would have to rid themselves of more players to acquire funds in order to finance those moves. Pirlo does not seem to have a shortage of candidates that might bring in good money and whose services are no longer required.
Since his arrival at the Serie-A side, the Italian manager has been looking to reinforce his attack alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. A signing in Alvaro Morata as a replacement for Gonzalo Higuain has already been made, but Pirlo will still be looking to strengthen the wings of the Bianconeri. The former Italy international man has heavily been interested in Federico Chiesa who currently plays for Fiorentina and has been looking forward to having him on his team.
The transfer of the Fiorentina man would cost Juve around 50 million euros, and they plan to finance this move by the sale of Douglas Costa. The Brazilian is currently 30 years of age and past his prime, and it would be a smart move for the Italian giants to cash in on the player as soon as possible. Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers had been identified as interests to sign the former Bayer Munich man but according to reports, negotiations would not be going any further.
Costa has reportedly denied joining Wolves and has apparently blocked all transfer requests. If true, it would mean that Juve would have no means to pay the fee for Chiesa and would have to look at alternatives to bring in the 22-year-old. Currently, a loan move seems to be the most viable option for Juventus and it will be seen if Andrea Pirlo would be selling or buying any more players.
