Juventus sporting director rules out the possible signing of Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez who has now been linked with Atletico Madrid

For the 2019-2020 season, Maurizio Sarri was appointed as the Juventus head coach. What followed was a highly disappointing season by the Turin side’s standards, winning the Italian league consecutively since the 2011-2012 season, the team just managed to clinch the trophy by a single point last season.

Along with that, the Old Lady saw disappointments in the Champions League, getting knocked out by Lyon and the team’s midfield was very poor lacking creativity and stability. All these factors gave reason for the inevitable sacking of Sarri from his position.

Going forward with the new season, Andrea Pirlo is the man entrusted to take his place and carry out a renovation of sorts at the club. One of the first focuses of the Italian would be to sign a partner in attack for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese international has been carrying the team in terms of goal scoring as since he has arrived, all the goals scored in the knockout stages of the UCL by the team have come from him, and he has been the top goalscorer for the team for two seasons, by a big margin from his teammates.

Barcelona’s star striker, Luis Suarez had been shortlisted as the man to accompany the 35-year-old upfront. The Uruguayan is a quality striker, but due to his age and recent form, Barca’s newly appointed coach Ronald Koeman has decided that he has no use of the South American in his plans for the club. Consequently, he has been one of the leading candidates to resolve Juve’s striker problem.

However, according to reports, a few complications have arisen due to which the Bianconeri will be giving up on their pursuit to sign the 33-year-old. To play for the Serie-A side, Suarez needed to have an Italian passport and take a language test, for which he had flown to Italy. But due to bureaucratic issues, the issuing of a passport would take a long time which would cross the date of the transfer deadline or the day where the teams hand over the Champions League team list.

So instead, Pirlo’s side has decided to look for options elsewhere, as they will supposedly be contempt with the transfer of any quality striker.
