Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain join English giants in the hunt for Barcelona forward

Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have entered the race to sign Barcelona forward, whose future at Camp Nou remains uncertain.

Spanish giants, Barcelona have a huge task on their hands in the summer. The newly appointed president, Joan Laporta must solve the financial crisis at the club, and at the same time, decide on the future of some vital players. There have been huge doubts cast over Ousmane Dembele‘s future at Barcelona, whose contract runs out in the summer of 2023.

The 23-year old is yet to decide if he wants to sign a new contract in the summer or leave as a free agent next year. However, the Catalans will look for a solution in the coming months as it is highly unlikely that they will let the Frenchman leave on a free transfer, next summer, more so after the lucrative sum they invested in signing him.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger was bought by Barcelona in the summer of 2017 for a sum of 135 million euros. His career at the club has never taken off after he has been hit by several injuries. However, things have gotten better for Dembele, as he has been a regular starter under Ronald Koeman in the past few months.

The likes of Juventus and Manchester United are interested in signing the French forward and have already contacted his agent, as reported by Mundo Deportivo. The Bianconeri want to instill a bit of pace in their attack, and Dembele’s skill and speed make him a good option. Andrea Pirlo wants his side to adopt the counter-attacking style of play, which has been difficult with their current squad. The Old Lady have been more comfortable with their possession-based style of football, something which has not worked well for the Italian giants this season.

As for Manchester United, they are desperately looking to sign a right-winger in the summer. The club’s main priority for last summer was Jadon Sancho, however, the deal never went through. Ousmane Dembele can be considered a strong alternative to Jadon Sancho, as the Red Devils are considered to reignite their interest in the English winger.

The report also adds that Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool have also been following the Frenchman closely. The trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have been Liverpool’s front three for the past three seasons, and Jurgen Klopp will be looking forward to add some spark to his forward line in the summer with an element of predictability starting to creep into his attacking system.

PSG meanwhile are lining up a move for Ousmane Dembele, if either of Kylian Mbappe or Neymar leave the club in the summer. The French club are sweating over the futures of their two star players, as the duo have just one year left on their contract and in all likelihood, it will be the former who leaves with Neymar inching closer to an extension.

Barcelona, however, will attempt to retain the services of their French winger. The 23-year old can be a part of Ronald Koeman’s long-term plans at Camp Nou. Moreover, Dembele has shown a different side to his game in the past month, as he has operated as a centre-forward besides the likes of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann.
