Juventus and Inter Milan eye Bayern Munich superstar
Juventus continue their league campaign in fine form as the Bianconeri breezed past Genoa to clinch three crucial points in the away fixture. Maurizio Sarri’s men are currently four points above Simeone Inzaghi’s Lazio who have risen as serious title contenders this season due to their impressive defensive tactical setup.
Inter Milan are third on the table and are behind Lazio by four points, however, the Nerazzurri are currently undergoing a successful transition stage under former Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte. Both Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri have plans on recruiting players in the upcoming summer and according to the reports from Italy, both the former Chelsea managers have considered signing Bayern Munich’s versatile superstar, David Alaba.
The Austrian international’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2021 and given the quality that Alaba possesses, the board at Bayern Munich cannot afford to let him walk out as a free transfer. The report from Calicomercatio also stated that David Alaba had turned down the contract renewal offer made Bayern’s chief, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
The Bundesliga superstar is currently valued at 52 million euros, a figure that Juventus and Inter Milan will not shy away from since COVID-19 has had adverse effects on several clubs financially that has prevented them from possibly spend huge sums this summer.
At 52 million euros, Conte and Sarri could possibly land a footballer that can be fielded in almost every single position. Alba can play as left-back, left-midfielder, and left-winger as well when needed. In fact, this season due to the long list of injuries at Bayern, Alaba had no other option to play as a centre-back and has performed phenomenally so far for the Bundesliga champions of 2019/20. Apart from his attacking and defensive qualities, the Bundesliga man is a master at set pieces from different ranges and is two-footed as well.
Juventus’s Daniel Rugani has been linked heavily with a move to either Arsenal or Wolverhampton and Alex Sandro has also been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer. Sarri believes that the recruitment of Alaba would compensate for both the departures since the Austrian international excels in both the positions.
However, Inter Milan would be the ideal destination for the Bundesliga man since Conte prefers playing a 3-5-2 formation that requires fast and technical full-backs. Ashley Young has been the Italian coach’s choice this season, however, if the two-footed player from the Bavarian club arrives at the San Siro next season, Young would be made the second choice.
It all boils down to which club would the Austrian footballer prefer since both Juventus and Inter Milan would have no issue in meeting his 52 million euro market value.
