Andrea Pirlo of Juventus is on the lookout for more players and has shortlisted a talented midfielder from Atletico Madrid
Juventus has had a quiet time in the transfer window this summer. The Turin-based club has only been able to add the likes of Arthur Melo, Weston Mckennie, Dejan Kulusevski, and Stefano Gori. The club has had high-profile departures as well which includes Gonzalo Higuain, Miralem Pjanic, and Blaise Matuidi.
The pandemic has had a drastic impact on the financial situation of many clubs including the Italian champions who have faced the brunt of it. With a low transfer budget, the 2019/20 Serie A champions have not been able to acquire big names in Europe. But that might change as Juve has shown interest in Yannick Carrasco of Atletico Madrid, according to reports.
The Belgian international arrived back from loan to Atletico in January 2020. Before his loan move, Carrasco had previously moved to the Chinese Super League in 2018 from the Wanda Metropolitano. The winger was able to score 24 goals in all competitions during his stay in China
Since his return to La Liga, the 27-year-old has managed to make 15 appearances in the league and has scored one goal for the Rojiblancos. Diego Simeone has not handed the winger regular starts and often prefers to use him as a substitute Meanwhile, Juventus believe that they could hand the winger a suitable role in their side and can guarantee more playing time. However, there hasn’t been any official bid from the 2019/20 Serie A champions.
Carrasco has had his share of ups and downs in his career but his quick pace and exquisite skills on the ball have not faded away in his decade long career. Simeone might not consider him as a starter in his side but has backed the Belgian to provide an instant impact whenever he’s called upon.
Presently Juventus have a young inexperienced midfield for the upcoming campaign and Pirlo might be willing to add the left winger to his current roster of players. With the Atleti midfielder, the Italian Champions have a good opportunity to add depth to their team along with flair.
A move to Turin can be an exciting and challenging prospect for the Atleti outcast and may provide a much-needed kickstart to the Belgian’s career.
