Tottenham Hotspurs coach Jose Mourinho proposes to offer 25 million euros to Real Madrid for a vital defender.

Real Madrid has been crowned La Liga champions for the 2019-2020 season. The defense of the Merengues under head coach Zinedine Zidane has been phenomenal this season and broke records as they conceded the least amount of goals in a league campaign in the club’s history. The signing of French fullback Ferland Mendy filled the gap in defense that the aging Marcelo was causing and has proved himself to be an integral part of the club’s success. Real however do lack a defensive backup for Sergio Ramos, as they seem to put up a shambolic defensive performance without their captain, as seen in matches against Ajax and Manchester City.

What is also impressive about the team is its future prospects, the Whites have exceptional youngsters who play for them, and those who cannot make the first team are loaned out to clubs to get playtime and experience. Madrid had 11 players out on loan in the 2019-2020 season alone, in which few have even shown qualities worthy of the first team of the LaLiga champions. Names like Martin Odegaard, Sergio Reguilon, and Takefuso Kubo have made a name for themselves in Spain and around Europe with their performances and have attracted quite a few suitors as well.

Although Zidane might need Odegaard as a replacement for Luka Modric, and Kubo for Gareth Bale what seems unnecessary is the addition of Reguilon to the team. With Mendy already putting up exceptional displays of quality, it would not make any sense to have two world-class fullbacks in the same team, with one sitting out on the bench. According to reports, assessing this situation and his performances with Sevilla, Tottenham Hotspurs coach Jose Mourinho has shown interest in signing the 23-year-old.

Though the idea of letting the youngster continue with the Nervionenses, where he would play the Champions League and continue to grow seems appealing club president Florentino Perez would be willing to sell the Spaniard if an offer around 25 million euros is put on the table. Mourinho is a coach known for well managing his resources, and such a price for a quality defender is good business. Tottenham would greatly benefit from the addition of the youngster, with his attacking capabilities and his contribution to defense as well.

Although it is not sure where the Real Madrid loanee would play next season, the London side provides a good option for Los Blancos which would seem to benefit all the parties concerned.
