Jose Mourinho of Tottenham Hotspur has shown interest in signing a Real Madrid superstar who has struggled for minutes last season
Jose Mourinho has managed to finish sixth in the Premier League last season with Tottenham Hotspur despite taking over mid-season. The former Real Madrid manager has managed to secure a spot in the UEFA Europa League for the 2020/21 season despite the numerous injuries that Spurs dealt with throughout the season including the likes of Ben Davies, Harry Kane, Son Heung-min.
However, Mourinho is not ready to take on the 2020/21 Premier League season without a backup striker for England international Harry Kane. Kane on his best day is amongst the most lethal strikers, however, lately, the star striker has been prone to injuries which have been a serious cause for concern.
According to Diaro GOL, Jose Mourinho has shown interest in signing Luka Jovic of Real Madrid as a backup striker for Harry Kane. The Serbian international completed his dream move to Real Madrid last summer for 60 million euros. Jovic signed for Real with the objective to help the side score goals and to recreate the same form that was on display in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt.
However, it is certainly not an easy task to overthrow Karim Benzema from the starting eleven. The French striker has been an indispensable figure under Zinedine Zidane and his performances speak for himself. There was certainly no way that Zidane could have dropped an in form Benzema that was toe to toe with Lionel Messi in terms of goals for Luka Jovic.
Unfortunately, the Serbian international has warmed the bench for the majority of the season and it seems like he will continue doing the same as Karim Benzema has shown no signs of slowing down. Jovic has been linked with a move to AC Milan for quite some time now, however, an opportunity to work with Mourinho would be a once in a lifetime offer that simply cannot be turned down.
Jose Mourinho wants to sign the Serbian on a season-long loan with an option to buy at the end of the season. Jovic was signed for 60 million euros on a six-year contract, however, after barely featuring in the 2019/20 season, his market value has fallen to a mere 30 million euros.
Real still have a jewel in their hands and it would be foolish to write off Luka Jovic so soon. The Serbian definitely requires game time to prove his worth and a move to Tottenham or AC Milan might just be the ideal option, however, an option to buy would certainly be a loss for Los Blancos.
