Inter Milan plot an exchange with Atletico Madrid over the upcoming winter transfer window as both sides share a mutual interest
Antonio Conte is not too pleased with the start of the 2020/21 Serie A season with Inter Milan. The Milan based side have won three of their last five fixtures and have subsequently drawn one and lost one in the Italian league. However, what has caught the former Chelsea manager’s interest is the issues in the defence. In just five Serie A games, Inter has conceded nine goals and Conte does not seem to be too impressed with those numbers.
To cope with the current issue, the former Juventus man has considered signing a defender in the upcoming winter transfer window. Mundo Deportivo reports that Conte has kept close tabs on Stefan Savic of Atletico Madrid and believes that the player could be the one he needs in his back three.
However, to lure Los Rojoblancos into the deal, Inter Milan are considering to offer Marcelo Brozovic as part of the swap deal. Diego Simeone has recently lost his most important midfielder, Thomas Partey, to Arsenal and is eager on finding a decent backup.
The deal seems to be fair and square for Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan as Conte would get a defender of his choice and Simeone would get Brozovic who is 27-years-old and can easily cover Partey’s role in the midfield. However, there have been no reports as of yet on whether it will be a straight swap deal or a player plus cash deal.
Atletico could seriously use the services of Brozovic after their recent thrashing against European champions, Bayern Munich. If Diego Simeone wants to make the most of his current squad then the signing of the Inter man could prove to be crucial given the versatility he offers in the midfield.
