Italian giants Inter Milan are contemplating an exchange deal for another Manchester United player in the coming weeks.
After a successful loan spell at Roma, Chris Smalling has returned back to Manchester United. The defender has been keen on a return to Rome, but a permanent move to the Serie A outfit has stalled due to dispute in transfer fees.
Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte is tremendously impressed by the Englishman performances of last season and is looking forward to replace the Milan Skriniar, according to Calcio Mercato. The 25 year old has struggled to adapt to a back-three and hasn’t impressed this season and Conte has made it clear that he has fallen down the order. Of several omissions, Skriniar’s most notable came in the Europa League Final, which may well signal the end of his time at the San Siro.
In order to secure the Englishman’s services, Inter Milan are reportedly willing to offer Ivan Perisic. After a triumphant loan spell with UEFA Champions league winners Bayern Munich, the Croatian winger has returned to his parent club and has been notified about the unavailability of space in Conte’s plans.
Ivan Perisic has been a long term target for Manchester United and with the Red Devils in need of a winger, the 31-year-old perfectly fits the bill. His age may be a factor that puts Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side out of the equation, but Perisic surely has what it takes to feature regularly and would be a short-term alternative to Jadon Sancho. With both players possessing the similar value and wage bill, this could prove to be equally beneficial for the respective clubs.
Although this deal seems easy on paper, it isn’t. Inter Milan are only willing to venture to an exchange deal if they manage to move out their Milan Škriniar. The Slovak is no longer considered as a valuable figure for Conte’s Milan and reports also suggest, that his agent has been in talks with Paris Saint Germain.
The 25-year-old has also been linked with a Premier League move with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United enquiring about him, but no concrete outcome has been identified just yet.
