Inter Milan have reportedly shown interest in signing Manchester United’s Alex Telles after a club official confirmed the same.
Inter Milan are on the lookout for full-backs after Ashley Young and Achraf Hakimi’s departures this summer. The former signed for West Ham as a free agent following the expiry of his contract. Meanwhile, the latter was sold to Paris Saint-Germain for 60 million euros.
The Nerazzurri have now turned their attention towards two Premier League superstars to replace Hakimi and Young respectively. Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin has been identified as the ideal signing for the right wing-back position whilst Manchester United’s Alex Telles has been shortlisted as a potential signing for the left-back position.
According to Inter Milan’s chief Giuseppe Marotta, the club is closely following Bellerin and Telles. While Inter have already begun negotiations with the Gunners for the Spaniard, the 2020-21 Serie A champions are yet to commence talks with the Red Devils.
Simone Inzaghi considers United’s Alex Telles as the perfect signing for his squad. The 28-year-old endured a difficult debut season at Old Trafford mainly due to Luke Shaw’s resurgence in form. Shaw’s consistent performances in the Premier League ultimately denied Telles with minutes and his appearances were limited to the UEFA Europa League and the other cup competitions.
The Brazilian is undoubtedly a perfect fit for Inter Milan’s system. He would be a guaranteed starter and his attacking prowess would come in handy if Inzaghi continues to use Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system.
Alex Telles’ strengths lie in his passing and shooting ability. He’s an excellent crosser of the ball and is a set-piece expert as well. In the 2019/20 season with Porto, he scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions, and played an instrumental role in guiding the Dragons to the Primeira Liga title.
However, it is unlikely that Manchester United would sanction a loan due to the lack of depth in the left-back position. Brandon Williams is close to signing for Southampton on loan after failing to impress Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, leaving the Norwegian with Alex Telles and Luke Shaw as his first-team left-back options.
With that being said, Inter Milan would have to channel their interest elsewhere as a move for the 28-year-old this summer transfer window looks highly unlikely.
