Inter Milan are set to test the waters for a Manchester City superstar, along with Juventus, ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
Inter Milan and Juventus are having contrasting seasons in the Serie A. While the Nerazzurri are closing in on a first title triumph in over a decade, the nine-time reigning champions in the Bianconeri even face a fight in finishing in a Champions League spot this year.
Nevertheless, both clubs had disappointing performances on the continental front. Antonio Conte’s side was knocked out of the group stage in the Champions League, whereas Juve succumbed to Porto in the round of 16, their second successive elimination in this phase.
Both the rivals are expected to be busy in the transfer market and are pondering over a move for Manchester City marksman Sergio Aguero, according to Tutto Sport. The Argentine will leave the club upon the expiry of his contract during the upcoming summer.
Juventus are unlikely in exercising their option to buy Alvaro Morata, who is at the club on loan from Atletico Madrid. Once the Spaniard returns to the Wanda Metropolitano, they would be left without an out and out forward, meaning Aguero could be a worthy addition.
Internazionale on the flipside are struggling to retain both, Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku. One of the two forwards is extremely likely to depart the club this summer owing to financial difficulties and Aguero, a free agent, may be a replacement at San Siro.
The Serie A promises to be an attractive destination for Aguero, whose wage demands can be easily matched by Inter and Juventus. However, joining the former would be a better choice considering their recent success under Antonio Conte.
Juve on the other hand have struggled to compete since the start of this season and the issues in the squad seem to be present in every department. Considering that Aguero is in the dusk of his career, joining a club which is not at its best may not give him a winning end.
Besides the Italian duo, Barcelona, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain also seem interested in his signing. If Aguero desires continuity in England itself, then Chelsea may be a good option, otherwise PSG is also a realistic option considering their requirement of a striker.
A return to La Liga is also a feasible option for Aguero, especially to reunite with his international teammate, Lionel Messi. However, the Blaugrana are under a financial tightrope which could make the forward’s wages unaffordable to them.
Where do you think Aguero will go after the end of his Manchester City contract?
