Former Arsenal striker believes that the Gunners are still interested to sign Houssem Aouar in the next transfer window
Arsenal has done a reasonable amount of business in the transfer window as the club has managed to sign some of the best talents of European football. The likes of Willian, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Thomas Partey have been added to the present Gunners squad that has now provided them with ample depth.
Mikel Arteta‘s side made a surprise last-minute bid to sign Atletico midfielder Thomas Partey as the club activated the release clause of the Ghana international in the dying minutes of the transfer window. Partey’s addition in the midfield will provide the north London side the much-needed stability in the defence. The former La Liga man is also an excellent carrier of the ball and can assist Dani Ceballos when going forward which ultimately unlock his utmost potential.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side missed out on a move for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar who has been a long-term target at the club. The French midfielder was one of the prime targets for the Gunners as the club was looking to rejuvenate their midfield with the presence of Aouar.
According to former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell, the club has not given up on the chase of their priority target and will try to finalize a deal for the Frenchman next summer. When asked about the possibility of the midfielder arriving during the winter transfer window, Campbell responded by saying
“Whether we can get you in January, I’m not sure. But I’m sure you’re next on the radar for Mikel Arteta and Edu.”
At present, Arsenal has fared well in their ongoing season as the club has bagged 9 points in their first four games of the Premier league. Gunners had a hiccup against Liverpool as Klopp’s side managed to beat them 3-1 at Anfield. Barring the defeat against the Reds, Mikel Arteta’s side has been impressive as in their outings so far as the Gunners are currently fourth in the League table and have managed to knock out Liverpool from the EFL Cup.
Arsenal will feel that they have made sufficient signings to secure domestic titles this season. Although the Gunners will face a stiff test from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea if they are to secure their 14th League title.
