Everton who have enjoyed cordial relations with Barcelona over the years, eye a summer over for one of their midfielders.
Carlo Ancelotti of Everton is eyeing up a summer move for a Barcelona midfielder who has been out of favor at the Catalonian club. Miralem Pjanic arrived at Camp Nou last summer, in a swap deal with Juventus, which involved the exchange of Arthur Melo to the Old Lady. However, the veteran midfielder has failed to impress this season and might find his way out this summer.
Pjanic has mostly remained confined to the bench as Ronald Koeman prefers playing the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Pedri and Sergio Busquets ahead of the former Juventus midfielder. The Bosnian is still a well-known name, and there will certainly be several suitors who would enquire about his services if he does decide to leave Barcelona in the summer. As reported by Todo Fichajes, Everton are interested in signing Pjanic and have made an enquiry on the same.
The Toffees have enjoyed a well-developed relation with Barcelona over the years. The Merseyside Club have bought several players from the Catalonian Club who have failed to hit their ground running such as. Andre Gomes, Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne are some of the players signed from the Camp Nou.
Everton could consider a season-long loan for Pjanic until the summer of 2022. Apart from the Blues, Spurs could also try to sign the Bosnian midfielder in the summer. It is known that Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Pjanic’s abilities with the ball. However, Everton have a head start in the race to sign the Barcelona midfielder, as they enjoy cordial relations with the Spanish club.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are currently sixth on the Premier League and are just five points adrift of Chelsea who are fourth on the table. The Toffees boast of a strong midfield consisting of Andre Gomes, Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and the addition of Pjanic can certainly provide them with another dimension in their attack.
