Cristiano Ronaldo convinces Barcelona target to join Juventus instead.
Cristiano Ronaldo has a massive influence on many of the emerging talents in the footballing world who have grown up watching the Portuguese superstar take over the sport by storm.
Juventus are known to be on the market for a new striker as they need a solid replacement for departing Gonzalo Higuain. The Argentine international is being booted out after a disappointing spell that was far beneath the club’s expectations.
Surprisingly the Italian side had been ready to pay 96 million euros to sign Higuain from Napoli back in 2016, hoping to secure a solid no. 9 alongside an aging Mario Mandzukic and a young Paulo Dybala.
Now, at 32 years of age, the Argentine striker is way past his prime. The Serie A champions desire to reinforce their center forward role despite having Ronaldo at their disposal as the No. 7 wants to play on the left flank instead.
To tackle this emerging issue, the Turin based side have placed Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik as the ideal candidate. The Polish international will follow the footsteps of Higuain, who left Napoli to join Juventus at a similar age.
Juve’s current boss, Maurizio Sarri, has already worked with Milik during his coaching years with Gli Azzurri. The 26-year-old is a goalscorer, who managed 13 goals in 25 appearances this season. He has a powerful left foot that can be deadly at times, but his recurring injuries concerning his knees are what keeps him from shining in Serie A.
His current contract expires in 2021 with both Barcelona and Real Madrid looking to sign the striker for free. Juve, however, are looking to use Ronaldo’s influence to convince the striker to remain in Italy and sign for the Old Lady instead.
