Chelsea are all set to secure the signing of the English international after completing a move for Edouard Mendy.
Chelsea have had a successful transfer window so far as they were able to sign some of the best talents of European football. Their spending spree saw them secure the likes of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chillwell, Malang Sarr, Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz. Roman Abramovich has truly given the Blues a new look and there may be more to come in the upcoming weeks.
The west Londoners are yet to conclude their transfer business as they are already in talks with Edouard Mendy over a potential move to the Stamford Bridge and have taken interest in securing another marquee player. Declan Rice is now being considered as the new target for Frank Lampard’s side, as per The Sun.
The West Ham midfielder has been priced at 80 million pounds and may end up leaving the Hammers in this transfer window. The defensive midfielder has been the best performer for the club last season and has had a vital presence in the side and has contributed in every corner of the pitch.
Rice made 38 appearances in the Premier League, thereby putting in a 100% record for David Moyes and provided three assists. The Englishman has shown flexibility in his playing positions as he was often deployed as a centre-half as well and did a tidy job in playing that position.
Frank Lampard has not been keen to use N’Golo Kante as the defensive midfielder and therefore sees Rice as a worthy replacement in that position. The French midfielder has started both of Chelsea’s fixtures so far in the Premier League but continues to be linked with a move to Inter Milan.
Chelsea might feel that they have all the ingredients necessary for a seventh Premier League title. They have recruited some of the best players of Europe and have not shown any signs of a slowdown in a bid to rebuild their depleted squad.
Roman Abramovich has made it clear that his club are willing to challenge the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for the premiership this season and with an upgrade in the goalkeeper’s role, there is no reason to believe why they wouldn’t do that.
The arrivals of Rice and Mendy will be the perfect end for their present transfer window business. This revamp might take the club to great heights in the near future and start an era of domination for the Blues.
Lampard’s men are currently holding a record of one win and one loss at the end of two Premier League outings, but with most new recruits still to feature and settle into the side, there is no reason why the west London side cannot pull through to the Premier League crown in the next 36 fixtures.
