Chelsea are expected to beat the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur as they continue to take major strides in the transfer market.

Chelsea have been impressive in this transfer window and have spent big having already signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner for a reportedly combined 87 million pounds.

Frank Lampard is reported also keen on deals for Leicester City left back Ben Chilwell and West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

As reported by Metro, Chelsea have opened talks with the representatives of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s about a move to the Stamford Bridge. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have also been keeping tabs on the situation and have registered interest in signing the Lazio superstar.

Chelsea are speaking to the player and his representatives about the team however, Lazio are refusing to budge on their asking price of 80 million pounds.

Claude Makelele has been involved by Chelsea in this deal as advisor, but they will face some serious competition from Paris Saint-Germain who also have expressed their interest in signing the player and have simultaneously started negotiations with the Serbian.

PSG have currently bid a reported figure of 54 million pounds and are unwilling to pay more due to the current financial situation because of the Covid-19.

The 25-year-old and can play as a No 8 and a No 10 in midfield and has chipped in with six goals and five assists this season.

After the lockdown , there has been a change in system at Chelsea under their legendary figure, who prefers N’Golo Kante as the deep lying midfielder with two supporting midfielders as a No 8 or a No 10 which is also the reason the west Londoners have been strongly linked with a move for Kai Havertz.  He can play both those positions in midfield and is extremely versatile.

However, the Blues already possess an abundance of talent in those positions in the likes of Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ross Barkley and Mateo Kovacic who have all been impressive whenever they have been called upon by the coach this season.

A deal for Milinkovic-Savic would mean Chelsea will have to sell one of their current midfield options which seems unlikely as Lampard has stressed he is happy in with his current options and with PSG in the race as well it seems unlikely Chelsea will be drawn into a bidding war as their current transfer priorities lie more towards the defensive players.

Do you think Milinkovic Savic is a player that Chelsea need in their squad?
