Chelsea contemplate a move for the ‘new Sergio Ramos‘ as they aim to bolster their defense in the winter transfer window
Chelsea arguably produced their best performance of the season against Burnley last night. Major contributions from the newly recruited players such as Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, and Edouard Mendy propelled Chelsea to a 3-0 victory at Turf Moor.
The Blues board spent more than 200 million pounds on new signings as they managed to bring in multiple talents from all around Europe to make the London side a formidable force again. However, it seems like Frank Lampard does not want to stop here. Recent reports suggest that the south London club he contemplating a move for the German Center-back, Matthias Ginter.
The 26-year-old has been in fine form since the start of the season and has managed to earn comparisons to the Spanish legend, Sergio Ramos. The German has managed to register more than 110 appearances including 9 goals and 4 assists for his current club, Borussia Monchengladbach.
Ginter is regarded as one of the best center-backs in the Bundesliga and could be available for just 30 million euros in January. With less than 18 months on his current contract with the German club, the former Freiburg defender could make a switch to the English giants amidst Antonio Rudiger‘s fragile situation.
A shaky start to the season has compelled the English manager to bolster his inconsistent defense. Ginter’s arrival should certainly make a positive impact on the current defense as they aim for silverware this season. His elite level of understanding of the game and great physique could prove out to be a great addition.
The Monchengladbach star has the experience that could help him settle in the physically-demanding Premier League and with the help of his national teammates, the 26-year-old could adapt to the league effortlessly. On the other hand, Chelsea would be looking to offload Rudiger after failing to make an impact for the Blues.
