Chelsea do not give up on their quest to re-sign Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea have not yet thrown in the towel on the possibility of re-signing Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan this summer.

Chelsea have been linked with Romelu Lukaku since the end of last season. Thomas Tuchel is on the lookout for a consistent goal-scorer to complete his set-up. After winning the Champions League in dominant fashion last season, they are now considered favourites for next season’s edition too while also eyeing the Premier League title.

According to The Atheltic, the Blues have not thrown in the towel on signing Lukaku and remain confident of re-signing their former player. Inter Milan are currently undergoing harsh financial conditions which have seen them sell Achraf Hakimi recently to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Nerazzurri are open to parting ways with any player for the right offer, even if it is someone as pivotal as Romelu Lukaku. Chelsea are looking to take advantage of Inter’s financial predicament this summer transfer window but they first have to raise sufficient funds before making an attempt.

According to The Express, Tuchel is willing to part ways with up to seven players this window to garner funds and reduce the payroll to sign more players. Antonio Rudiger, Emerson Palmeri, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Michy Batshuayi, Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho and Tammy Abraham have all been deemed as transferable.

Lukaku is currently valued at 100 million euros on the transfer market, however, the Blues could easily meet Inter’s asking price through player departures.

The Belgian international’s signing could possibly put Chelsea into the driving seat as favourites for the Premier League next season. Thomas Tuchel had performed a miraculous task of turning the club’s fortunes around last season and the only missing piece to his flamboyant setup is a clinical striker.

The former Manchester United striker scored 30 goals along with 10 assists in all competitions for Antonio Conte’s side last season. Apart from his goal-scoring ability, Romelu Lukaku’s hold-up play is exceptional and his presence in the centre of the attack could benefit Timo Werner if he plays from the left-wing.

With that being said, he is the ideal signing for Chelsea and only time will tell whether the European champions get their hands on their former player. Do you think Chelsea will re-sign Lukaku this summer?
