The 27-year-old is seriously considering his future at the club after being dropped for every game this season. With European Championship in touching distance, the German center back is only looking to play every single minute possible, and with the arrival of Thiago Silva, it seems highly unlikely that German has a spot in the backline.
In recent developments, the east London club West Ham are in contention to sign the Chelsea defender on a season-long loan deal. Although the Blues prefer to sell the defender permanently in order to recoup a few million euros this summer and are also looking forward to trimming their squad to the bare minimum.
The Hammers previously enquired for Arsenal’s Rob Holding and Manchester United’s Chris Smalling, however, none of the deals turned fruitful. Having said that, David Moyes considers the 27-year-old as a high profile target and is willing to pay a premium in order to procure his services for the ongoing season. The east Londoners are also keeping tabs for the young French center-half Mohamed Simakan who is valued at 20 million euros by his parent club, Strasbourg.
West Ham secured their first points of the season with an emphatic performance against Wolves last night, scoring 4 in the process. As the season progresses the Hammers manager David Moyes, is in search of defensive stability in order to challenge for the European places this season.
With only a week left for the transfer window to shut, the clubs from London will have to approach the negotiations with utmost importance and clear intentions in order to seal the deal for the German defender. Antonio Rudiger has registered more than 100 appearances for the south London club and is well accustomed to the Premier League.
