Bayern Munich superstar has indicated that he might sign for his former club if he decides to shift base in the future.
Serge Gnabry has been a huge success in Germany since he arrived in 2016 as the player initially had started his new stint with Werder Bremen and had later on moved to clubs like Hoffenheim and Bayern Munich. The Germany international has altogether transformed himself into one of the deadliest wingers in Europe as his present tenure at the Allianz Arena has been truly exceptional.
The former Arsenal man has hit top gear for the Bavarians, as last season, the 25-year-old was one of the instrumental members in the club’s feat of winning a second treble. The right-footed winger was brilliant in the Champions League as he has snapped up nine goals in ten appearances which included a quartet of goals against Tottenham Hotspur in a thumping 7-2 victory over the Lilywhites.
According to sources, Gnabry has reportedly expressed his desire to come back to his former club Arsenal and had also marked the English outfit as a likely destination if he quits Bundesliga.
In a recent interview, the Stuttgart-born player was asked if he would return to England for a second stint to which he stated that he would not rule out a move to the Premier League and fancies signing for Arsenal as he chose the Gunners as “favourites”.
The 25-year-old winger also spoke about how his time in England helped his cause in becoming a better player:
I would do it over again if I was in that position because it helped my character a lot. You experience new things, also in other countries the leagues and teaching of football is also good. It’s never a wrong thing to move abroad.
At present, he would be looking to win more accolades at Bayern and hence a move away from Bundesliga to the Premier League seems unlikely. The winger expressed confidence about his club willing to secure another treble this season.
There’s always a point to prove. I hope we haven’t hit the pinnacle yet. The mentality of us players, of myself and I’m sure the team is to aim for another treble.
Given the winger’s words, Arsenal fans would surely be hoping that the club has taken note and there needs to be no explaining done as to why Gnabry would be a great addition to the squad. However, to lure the player back to the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners must pull their socks up and perhaps target a Champions League spot.
Do you see Gnabry playing for Arsenal once again?
