Bayern Munich had made an attempt to sign Real Madrid’s talented midfielder, Federico Valverde, in the summer transfer market

Bayern Munich has arguably had their best season ever with the 2019-2020 season. The Bundesliga side has already won the infamous treble of the UEFA Champions League, DFB Pokal, and the League so far. To go with that, the Bavarians have also won the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla and will be looking to lift the Club World Cup which will be starting in December.

This feat comes due to the fantastic performances that the players put up and the tactical masterclass of their new coach Hansi Flick. The German side, in their campaign, managed to beat Tottenham Hotspurs 7-1 in the Champions League group stage and beat Barcelona 8-2 in the quarter-finals of the tournament. Flick’s team for the season was considered unbeatable during the course of the season and there was not a single department of the game where they lacked better players.

After such a huge victory, during the transfer window, Bayern’s star player and a key figure in their campaign Thiago Alcantara left for the Premier League side, Liverpool. The move gave rise to a lot of speculation, as the Bavarians now needed a replacement for their ace in midfield, but, the European champions were apparently not able to find a viable candidate to replace the Spanish international and settled for a defensive midfielder in Marc Roca.

However, recent reports have suggested that Flick did have a player in mind that would have made up for the departure of Thiago, the player in question being Federico Valverde of Real Madrid. The Uruguayan has been stellar for the La Liga champions recently and has made it to the first team in the matter of a season. His presence in the midfield and incredible work rate has been a key factor in Los Blancos’ title-winning season.

Although the signing of the 22-year-old would have been a game-changing one for Bayern, to their disappointment, neither Valverde nor Madrid are open to the possibility of a move. The youngster is very happy with the Merengues and wants to spend his next few years playing in the white jersey.
